Habitat of the endangered 'Beach stone curlew' and 500 pound dugong as well as Rock wallabies, possums and sea turtles. Home to over 100 species of birds including sea eagles, black and white cockatoos, and an ubundance of parrots headed by the most beautiful rainbow lorikeets. Twenty-three kilometres of maintained walking track, with stunning mountain and sea views, koalas and other wild life usually seen on the walk to the historic World War II forts. Close to the wreck of the SS Yongala - rated #1 in Australia, and one of the top 10 wreck dives on the planet. Excellent shore dives on the highest quality fringing coral reef in North Queensland. 20 known wrecks around the island, with at leat 12 classified historic wrecks.
